Terms of Service
Effective date: September 29, 2026
About these terms
These terms govern your use of You-thon, a service operated by Alterna Dev Studio ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using You-thon you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service
You-thon is an online service for creating personal challenges that raise money for charity. A host sets a goal and a start and end date, chooses a charity, and logs progress on a public challenge page. Friends, family and other supporters pledge donations to the host's chosen charity.
What we charge: hosts pay a one-time challenge fee for each challenge, by card through Stripe, before the challenge is published. The standard fee is $18.50 (USD). Eligible challenges, such as those for a charity in a current promotion, are charged a lower promotional fee instead. The amount is always shown before you pay. There are no subscriptions and no other charges from You-thon.
Donations: after a challenge ends, supporters with an eligible pledge pay it directly to the charity through Every.org, a nonprofit donation platform. You-thon never collects, holds or processes donations and takes no share of them.
Your account
- You must give accurate account details and keep them up to date.
- You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.
- You must be at least 13 to create an account.
The challenge fee
- Publishing a challenge requires a one-time challenge fee. The standard fee is $18.50 (USD). Eligible challenges, such as those for a charity in a current promotion, are charged a lower promotional fee instead. The amount is always shown before you pay.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Once paid, a challenge's fee does not change.
- Refunds and cancellations are covered by our Refund Policy.
Pledges and donations
- A pledge is a promise to donate, not a payment. You-thon never charges supporters.
- After a challenge ends, supporters with an eligible pledge — unpaid, not cancelled, and not abandoned — receive a link to pay it to the host's chosen charity through Every.org. Donations are made to the charity through Every.org and are subject to Every.org's terms. Donation receipts come from Every.org.
- A supporter can cancel a pledge at any time before paying it.
- We cannot guarantee that supporters will pay their pledges, or how a charity uses the donations it receives.
Your content
- You keep ownership of the challenges, progress logs and photos you post. You allow us to store and display them to run You-thon.
- Published challenge pages are public.
- Do not post content that is unlawful, misleading, abusive, or that infringes anyone else's rights.
Acceptable use
- Do not use You-thon for fraud, to impersonate a person or a charity, or to raise money under false pretences.
- Do not interfere with or try to gain unauthorised access to the service.
- We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms.
Changes to the service
We may change, suspend or stop parts of You-thon. You-thon is provided as it is, without warranties beyond those required by law.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update this page and its effective date.
